Arthur Liebehenschel

Arthur Liebehenschel was a high-ranking Nazi party member who served as the commandant of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp and Majdanek Extermination Camp. Liebehenschel joined the Nazi Party in 1932, and the SS (Schutzstaffel) in 1934. He became commandant of Auschwitz I in 1943, and moved to Majdanek in 1944. In 1945, he was arrested by the United States Army and convicted of crimes against humanity at the Auschwitz Trials in Poland. He was executed on 24 January 1948.
