A battle which took place in German South West Africa (modern day Namibia) on 11 August 1904 between the German colonial forces and the native Herero people. Although the bulk of the Herero escaped to the desert, the German forces were successful in removing the Herero from the Waterberg Plateau, and thus achieved a tactical if not complete victory.
