Concentration camps are places where groups of people are held under armed guard outside of any judicial process for an indefinite period of time. Camp prisoners are sometimes made to complete forced labour. The Nazis built hundreds of these camps all over Europe. These camps were unsanitary, overcrowded and brutal. Concentration camps were for used for civilians prior to the Nazi era, for example in the Boer War.
