Günther Tamaschke

Günther Tamaschke (26 February 1896 – 14 October 1959) was a German SS officer who joined the Nazi Party in 1926. Having previously worked at Dachau Concentration Camp, in 1937 Tamaschke became the commander of the women’s concentration camp at Lichtenburg. When Lichtenburg was closed, Tamaschke moved to the newly established Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1939. In September 1939, Tamaschke was discovered to have had an affair with a female guard, and was removed from his position and, in 1942, from the SS. After the war, Tamaschke was not prosecuted for his actions during the Nazi regime, and he died in Uhingen in 1959.
