Joseph Goebbels

A German politician and a leading member of the Nazi Party. After joining the Nazi Party in 1924, he became the Gauleiter for Berlin in 1926. In 1933, following the Nazis rise to power, he became Minister of Propaganda. Goebbels’ racist and antisemitic beliefs, which were widely advocated through every means possible in his role as Minister for Propaganda, played a key role in the persecution of Jews in Germany. In 1944, Goebbels became the Reich Plenipotentiary for Total War. Following Hitler’s suicide in 1945, Goebbels became chancellor for Germany. The following day, Goebbels and his wife poisoned their six children, and then committed suicide themselves.
