Judaism has existed for thousands of years and was the first of the monotheistic religions.

Once the Jews had their own country, but two thousand years ago they were defeated by the Romans and sent into exile. Today there are around fourteen million Jews scattered all over the world.

The Judaism and Jewish Life section of The Holocaust Explained will describe and explain Jewish identity, beliefs and practices.
