Spartacist Uprising

A political challenge to the Weimar Republic in January 1919 by a group called the Spartacists. The Spartacists were communists led by Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg. The uprising occurred when 100,000 people went on strike and demonstrated in Berlin. The uprising was poorly planned and was quickly crushed by the Freikorps. The Spartacists leaders were executed.
