Westerbork transit camp

Westerbork was a transit camp established in the north of Holland In 1942, having previously served as a refugee camp for German and Austrian refugees fleeing from the Third Reich. Over the course of its existence, 97,776 people were deported from Westerbork to extermination and concentration camps in Germany and Eastern Europe. The camp was liberated by Allied forces in April 1945.
